Transaction Structure (In a Block)

Fields marked with * are fields which are not present in the original Bitcoin's block structure. All other fields can be found in Bitcoin's block structure specification. You can also refer to this blog article for a more complete description of the different fields.

Field Description Size
Version Number Expected to be 1 but in rare cases is garbage 4 bytes
* Time Stamp Transaction Time Stamp 4 bytes
Tx-Input Counter Variable Length Integer. Number of inputs in this transaction. 1 - 9 bytes
List of Transaction Input The first input is called coinbase . <Tx-Input Counter>-many inputs
Tx-Output Counter Variable Length Integer. Number of outputs in this transaction. 1 - 9 bytes
List of Transaction Output The outputs of the first transaction spend the mined/minted Peercoins for the block. <Tx-Output Counter>-many outputs
Lock Time If non-zero and sequence numbers are < 0xFFFFFFFF: block height or timestamp when transaction is final. 4 bytes
